How I *Actually* Created Freedom in My Days

I remember dreaming about the day when I'd have more autonomy over my own schedule: when I wouldn't be chained to a desk, answering calls, and asking for permission to step away and use the restroom (true story!).

But once that day finally came, and I was working remotely for the first time with more flexibility and freedom, I unintentionally ended up creating some not-so-ideal habits.

I worked nights and weekends. I worked through lunches. I skipped meals altogether.

I barely left the house, and was available 24/7 with absolutely no boundaries.

I produced high-quality work but gave myself zero recognition for going above and beyond.

And in the midst of all of this, I didn't even realize what was happening...because it all felt so normal.

While I'd imagined freedom-filled days, I ultimately ended up creating the opposite.

It took a toll on my health. I was so stressed that I was clenching my jaw all night and waking up with headaches. I was getting migraines on a regular basis, had neck and back pain develop from sitting at my desk and staring at my laptop and phone so much, and felt too exhausted and overwhelmed to even text my friends back.

Thankfully, I’d discovered the world of coaching and was ready to dive deep into my own growth and healing journey.

I learned how to slow down, check in with myself and my body, set healthy boundaries, value my own needs over the requests of others, and — ultimately — separate out my own worth and value from what I was producing work-wise (in addition to what other people thought about me).

Doing this work completely changed my life, and by the time I began my coaching practice, I actually knew how to be a good boss to myself and enjoy those freedom-filled days I once dreamt about.

Beyond that, I was also able to take what I’d learned and teach it to others in a way that saved them years of suffering and figuring it out on their own.
